The report gives state totals, not results by clinic. Ask each clinic for its own outcomes for women your age and with your diagnosis, and confirm costs with the clinic and Medicare, because prices and rules change.
With more than ten thousand cycles a year in WA, many women go in with fears picked up from others. Map to the Positive sets the common myths against the evidence:
| Myth | What the book says |
|---|---|
| IVF will give you cancer | No evidence of increased cancer |
| You need complete bed rest | Normal activity is fine |
| You can't have sex | Sex is allowed, with care |
| IVF only makes twins | A single transfer means one baby in most cases |
| It's only for extreme cases | There are many indications |
From Chapter 35 of Map to the Positive.
The book lists what can happen: bloating and tenderness, mood changes from high-dose hormones, cramping and light bleeding, fatigue, and rarely ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, which in severe cases needs medical attention.
IVF demystified is Chapter 35 of Map to the Positive, in Station IV. It explains each of the five phases from the first injection to the two-week wait, and lists the questions to ask before you start. The same station shows when to see a specialist and how to choose the right doctor.
Take 30 days. If it does not give you more clarity than everything you have read for free so far, ask for a refund and you get every cent back. We cannot promise you a pregnancy. We can promise you will not be guessing.
