Prince Edward Island has no fertility clinic, so its Fertility Treatment Funding Program reimburses Islanders for IVF and IUI at clinics elsewhere in Canada. As of the expansion reported on August 18, 2026, the benefit is a lifetime maximum of C$20,000 per household, with income limits removed, covering initial consultation fees and prescribed medications.

Eligible expenses incurred on or after January 1, 2026 may be reimbursed if they fall within your approved funding period under the previous program and have not already been reimbursed. Budget 2026 added C$705,000 to the program.
Some sources dated before the expansion, including the CFAS mapping (July 2026) and the provincial health hub page (March 2024), still describe the previous C$5,000 to C$10,000 per year program. The newer figure is the C$20,000 lifetime maximum.
Treatment is not available on PEI. Preliminary testing can be done through a primary care provider or SHORS, and then Islanders travel to a clinic elsewhere in Canada. The C$20,000 is a lifetime total for the household, so plan which treatments you will claim it against.
The program changed in 2026. Confirm the current rules with the Government of Prince Edward Island and check what your insurer covers before you book treatment.
When each appointment takes a trip, preparation matters. Map to the Positive suggests asking a specialist before IVF:
With a lifetime cap, the answer on total costs tells you how far C$20,000 will go.
These questions come from Chapter 35 of Map to the Positive, IVF demystified, in Station IV. The chapter explains every phase of a cycle, from stimulation to the two-week wait. The station also covers when to see a specialist, how to choose a doctor and the treatment ladder.
Take 30 days. If it does not give you more clarity than everything you have read for free so far, ask for a refund and you get every cent back. We cannot promise you a pregnancy. We can promise you will not be guessing.
