Quebec's medically assisted reproduction program, available since November 15, 2021, covers one IVF cycle for life for people insured by RAMQ; women must be under 41 to begin treatment and under 42 for embryo transfer. It also covers donor insemination, fertility preservation before gonadotoxic treatment and, since March 6, 2024, surrogacy and some preimplantation genetic testing (Québec.ca, updated January 22, 2026).

CFAS reports wait times at participating centres of up to 3 to 6 months, versus as low as two weeks at exclusively private clinics (July 2026). Per CFAS figures cited for 2025, 3,606 patients in Quebec received provincial IVF funding.
Costs outside the program, such as IVF or artificial insemination you pay for, may qualify for Revenu Québec's refundable Tax Credit for the Treatment of Infertility, and an advance payment may be available. Ask Revenu Québec for the current rate and limits before you count on it.
Check your eligibility with RAMQ and your clinic, ask your insurer about medications, and confirm the current rules on Québec.ca. Programs change.
Map to the Positive gives clear cutoffs for when to be evaluated: 12 months of trying under 35, 6 months from 35 to 40, 3 months at 41 to 42, and immediate evaluation from 43.
For women between 35 and 40, every additional 6 months of waiting can mean a measurable drop in the success rate of future treatments. Ovarian reserve doesn't pause.
With Quebec's age limit for starting funded treatment set at under 41, a wait list of several months is one more reason to get evaluated on time.
These cutoffs open Station IV of Map to the Positive, in Chapter 29, When to see a specialist, along with the red flags that justify an earlier visit and the type of specialist to see. The station continues with choosing a doctor, the treatment ladder and IVF step by step.
Take 30 days. If it does not give you more clarity than everything you have read for free so far, ask for a refund and you get every cent back. We cannot promise you a pregnancy. We can promise you will not be guessing.
