CDC's state data brief for 2021 (published December 2023) lists 26 ART clinics in Florida and 11,204 ART procedures for Florida residents, leading to 3,929 live-birth deliveries and 4,164 live-born infants. Babies conceived with ART were 1.7% of Florida births, below the national 2.3%. CDC counts procedures and births by the patient's state of residence, not where she was treated.
| Measure, 2021 | Florida | United States |
|---|---|---|
| ART clinics | 26 | 501 performed ART (453 reported to CDC) |
| ART procedures for residents | 11,204 | 246,087 |
| Live-birth deliveries | 3,929 | 91,906 |
| Live-born infants | 4,164 | 97,128 |
| Procedures per 1 million women aged 15 to 49 | 2,439 | 3,250 |
| ART infants among all births | 1.7% (3,692 of 216,260) | 2.3% |
Procedures exclude egg or embryo banking cycles. Counted by the patient's state of residence. Source: CDC, State-Specific ART Surveillance, 2021 Data Brief (December 2023).
With 26 clinics listed, Florida residents had 2,439 procedures per 1 million women aged 15 to 49, about three quarters of the national 3,250. The 4,164 infants follow the 2021 procedures; the 3,692 are ART babies among the 216,260 infants born in Florida during 2021.
Florida has no law requiring private insurers to cover IVF (see the Florida coverage page), so what you pay depends on your plan. The CDC totals describe Florida residents as a group; they do not rank clinics.
Map to the Positive takes on the myths that make IVF sound more frightening than it is:
| Myth | Reality |
|---|---|
| IVF will give you cancer | No evidence of increased cancer |
| You need complete bed rest | Normal activity is fine |
| You can't have sex | Sex is allowed (with care) |
| IVF only makes twins | A single transfer means 1 baby in most cases |
| It's only for extreme cases | There are selected cases, but many indications |

The myths are part of Chapter 35 of Map to the Positive, IVF demystified, in Station IV, which walks through all five phases and lists the questions to ask before you start. The same station covers when to see a specialist, choosing a doctor and the treatment ladder.
