Yukon has no fertility clinic, but since December 2024 its Medical Travel Program covers airfare and a subsidy for accommodation, meals and transportation for fertility and surrogacy treatment outside the territory, with approval before travel. A refundable fertility and surrogacy tax credit of 40% of eligible costs applies to expenses from January 2, 2024, first claimed on the 2025 return. This is the situation as of May 2026.
In December 2024, Yukon expanded its Medical Travel Program to fertility and surrogacy treatments not available in the territory. It covers airfare and a subsidy for accommodation, meals and transportation. The change came into force immediately and applies only to treatment after it took effect.
Yukon's refundable credit equals 40% of eligible fertility treatment costs, including surrogacy, with no lifetime limit. Expenses from January 2, 2024 can be claimed on the 2025 tax return filed in 2026. The government release describes it as 40% of eligible costs up to C$10,000 per year, but sources read that cap differently: it is not clear whether C$10,000 is the yearly limit on the credit itself or on the expenses it is calculated from. Confirm the cap with the Government of Yukon before you rely on a figure.
Both programs are recent. Confirm current rules with the Government of Yukon and your insurer before planning treatment.
Yukon's travel list spans the whole range of treatment that Map to the Positive describes, on a rising scale of complexity, cost and impact:
| Level | What it includes |
|---|---|
| 1. Clinical and medication optimization | Ovulation induction, treating associated conditions, minimally invasive surgery; 3 to 6 months to evaluate results |
| 2. Low-complexity assisted reproduction | Timed intercourse with monitoring; IUI, usually with ovulation induction |
| 3. High-complexity assisted reproduction | IVF, ICSI, gamete donation and preimplantation genetic testing |
From Chapter 34 of Map to the Positive.
The book's ladder principle: start with the least invasive option and move up as needed, skipping rungs only for reasons such as advanced age or a severe diagnosis.
The three levels and the treatment ladder are Chapter 34 of Map to the Positive, in Station IV. The station also tells you when to see a specialist, how to choose the right doctor, and what happens in IVF phase by phase.
Take 30 days. If it does not give you more clarity than everything you have read for free so far, ask for a refund and you get every cent back. We cannot promise you a pregnancy. We can promise you will not be guessing.
